November News from the Actors-Space Berlin

November 2, 2011
It's been an astonishingly, and sometimes drainingly, busy summer at the Actors-Space Berlin. The end of our first Year-Long programme, culminating in a public sharing of scenes at the Heimathafen Theatre in Kreuzberg, and then the five week intensive summer programme..

In addition, here are up to the minute offerings at the Space this month:
I start a weekly text / scene class this week. We will be going into the fundamentals of the actor's relationship with text, so mostly aimed at people who have done the introduction but not yet worked much with me on scenes. It goes for six weeks, Tuesday evenings from 18.30 to 21.30 and there are two places remaining, because I forgot to advertise it.. (duh!) Details are on the websites as usual.
Cost 180Euro.
André begins another round of casting classes. "Making the most of your casting opportunity" looks at all the challenges and possibilities of various casting situations, how to offer your best, making strong choices, even at short notice, or with uncertain material...
The course runs for six weeks on Monday afternoons, from 2.30 to 5.30pm, starting November 14th
Cost 180Euro.
Our lovely Elisabeth Baulitz is repeating her four-session round of Aufstellungsarbeit. She will be working Thursday mornings from 11.00 till 13.00Uhr for four weeks starting from Thursday November 24th.
Cost for the four sessions 55Euro (eight participants maximum)
Annette Goeres has resumed her Freiestimme Aufbaukurs on Tuesday afternoons from 2.30pm to 4.00pm, so if you have worked with her before and want to join in, please just turn up in the main studio tomorrow, or talk to Annette directly. Her number is 01723984189
So, the Space is really busy now, which is very exciting, and we have now installed a new floor in Studio Three so more movement and physical work is possible, in addition to the Yoga and Voice and Alexander Technique we have enjoying recently. Recently we have begun a series of experiments in Ensemble work, three of which are going to result in our producing plays, by David Mamet, David Lindsay Abair and David Auburn within the next six months. This week sees the start of our three-week collaboration with the HFF Potsdam Directors School, which promises to be very intense! And on Monday we started our third Year-long programme... and the drop-in classes continue on Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings, and Guerilla Practice mornings on Thursday mornings! And Karen Cifarelli's American accent work on Wednesday afternoons!
And looking forward, it's going to get even busier - check this out:
  1. We are delighted to host US director and teacher Robyn Lee, on the weekend of November 13th and 14th. She calls her work IN THE MOMENT, and in the workshop you will work on scenes and monologues, using her techniques to get a deep understanding of you in relation to the text and the performance. Look at for details of Robyn's work and please contact: or 017662889307
  2. Susanne Eggert has moved her regular evening Linklater Voice class from Prenzlauerberg to the Space, on Wednesdays, from 18.30 to 21.30Uhr You can join her classes by arrangement with her on 015201709115
  3. Regisseurin, Réka Kincses will offer an intense film workshop in December using her Aufstellungsarbeit to direct actors in chosen scenes from "The Three Sisters" - this is really exciting, instinctual work for actors.
  4. Wolfgang Wimmer's "Film for Actors" is full, running till December, but please register your interest in advance for the next course, likely to start in January 2012
  5. Annette Goeres will also offer another Foundation Course in her Freiestimme work for those who have not yet had the pleasure. Also aiming for January with that.
  6. We are looking forward to hosting a camera acting workshop with visiting American Filmmaker Jordan Beswick in early 2012, look for news on the Website and in future Newsletters.
  7. Due to its huge popularity, we have decided to offer our five week intensive programme twice-yearly instead of only in the summer. Look out for dates near Easter 2012 for this total actors' workout.

If we make it to Christmas, there'll be a well-earned party before we break for the holidays, that's for sure!
